Overview

Do you have a degree, preferably in town and country planning, and are looking to start or take the next step in your career in planning where you can develop a wide range of skills and experience?

Are you looking for a role with variety, where your hard work, enthusiasm and commitment will be valued by an experienced and friendly team?

We are an ambitious Council, always trying to improve the many public services that we provide to our residents. Even more importantly, we aim to help preserve and enhance Waverley’s beautiful and precious environment and make a positive impact on the lives of everybody who lives or works here in Waverley.

It’s an exciting time for the Waverley Planning Policy team as we have started the preparation of a new Local Plan and we are looking for a motivated person to join us. If you have an interest in the built and rural environment and would like to play an active role in preparing it, and support the preparation of neighbourhood plans, then we would be delighted to receive an application from you.

This is an agile post which allows the holder to work from home for part of the week after an initial period of induction at the discretion of their line manager depending on the business needs of the service.

This post is a full‑time role. However, all applications will be considered.

Responsibilities

Play an active role in preparing the new Local Plan and support the preparation of neighbourhood plans.

Qualifications

Preferably a degree in town and country planning. Willingness to develop a wide range of skills and experience in planning.

Benefits and Working Arrangements

In return for your valued contribution, we can offer a competitive benefits package which includes hybrid and agile working policies, training and development opportunities, generous annual leave and flexi‑time, free onsite parking, an employee assistance scheme and membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

EEO and Diversity Statements

The district is home to many different people, and we want our workforce to reflect our diverse local communities. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences – we are a Disability Confident employer and appoint on merit.

We are proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and welcome applications from serving or ex‑members of the armed forces and their partners. We offer an interview scheme for serving and ex‑military forces members when they meet the essential criteria for the role.

Please note we do not accept applications after the stated closing time and right to work in the UK will be checked as part of the interview process.
