About us:
At Airbus, our Costing team is the reference centre of competence for guiding decisions that foster competitiveness and value. We are the trusted source for answering critical questions from across the business, such as:
* "How much would it cost to produce a hydrogen-powered aircraft?" (Engineering)
* "Which design offers the best value for money?" (Programme/Strategy)
* "How can we factually challenge a supplier's offer?" (Procurement)
Our work spans a wide range of activities, from Research & Technology (R&T) subjects to program development and improvement. We lead Design to Cost and Design to Value initiatives, assess the competitiveness of our supply chain, and support strategic decisions for the future of Airbus.
What you will be doing:
On a typical working day, you will:
* Cost Estimation: Provide cost estimate for new aircraft system design and production, contribute to the decision of which system solution, design or concept represents the best value for the development;
* Gap Analysis: Perform an analysis to explain the difference between Costing estimates and suppliers quotes. The result will give Airbus levers to deal with suppliers in negotiations;
* Modeling: Develop cost models (Landing Gear, System Test, Fuel System, etc.);
* Stakeholder Communication: Communicate findings and updates to various stakeholders, both verbally and in written form;
* Learning and Development: Participating in training sessions to enhance skills in cost estimation, project management, and leadership;
* Travel to other Airbus sites or suppliers if required.
Requirements:
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following:
* Studying toward a degree in Engineering, such as: Aerospace, Electrical and Electronic, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial, Software or similar subjects;
* Motivated with the ability to manage your own activities and work effectively within a multi-skilled, transnational team;
* Proactive with a keen sense to learn and develop;
* Proficient in both oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus;
* Aware of and committed to Airbus's vision, values, ethics, and compliance standards.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
