Are you ready to make a real difference in patient care and data quality within one of the UK’s leading NHS Trusts? Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our Urgent and Emergency Medicine operations team as a Pathway Validator.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working independently, often as the sole validator, and who is highly self-motivated. You will need to manage your own workload, ensuring that all validations are completed accurately and within strict deadlines. Your ability to work autonomously and maintain focus will be essential to the success of the team and the quality of patient care.

You will be the first point of contact for queries related to the UEM pathway, liaising with clinical staff, management teams, and business intelligence colleagues to resolve issues and ensure data quality. Your expertise in using systems such as Cerner, combined with your ability to interpret and apply UEM Clock Rules, will be vital in supporting both staff and patients throughout their journey.

We are looking for someone who brings previous clerical or receptionist experience, ideally within the NHS, and who is confident in using Microsoft Excel and patient administration systems. You should be able to work independently and proactively, demonstrating excellent communication skills and a commitment to our Trust values: kindness, collaboration, expertise, and aspiration.

Main duties of the job

1. Administration
2. To be able to apply the Urgent and Emergency Medicine (UEM) rules to different patient pathways across a wide spectrum of pathways.
3. To regularly validate UEM metrics they are accurate – this involves close working with clinical staff, local management teams, other validation staff, line manager and BI team.
4. Ensure the accurate and efficient validation of ‘ UEM pathways’.
5. To be an expert in the use of the Trust’s patient information system – Cerner.
6. To assist with all UEM data quality issues.
7. Pro-actively escalate potential breaches and other issues according to the department escalation guidelines.
8. To work closely with the BI team to ensure all information entered is accurately linked to an appropriate pathway.
9. To work closely with the division, checking patient pathway details have been recorded accurately on our systems

10. Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent relevant experience

SKILLS

Essential criteria

11. Previous clerical or receptionist experience in the last 2 years
12. A thorough understanding of PAS/EPR systems (specifically Cerner)
13. Ability to understand, interpret and implement relevant national and local policy.
14. Proven experience in the use of Microsoft Excel.

EXPERIENCE

15. 2 years NHS experience in a relevant area
16. Experience in implementing robust data quality and UEM processes.
17. Experience of working in acute trusts
