We're looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a Workshop Mechanic, playing a key role in maintaining the safety and reliability of our fleet. This hands-on role involves inspections, fault identification and repair, and ensuring all vehicles meet DVSA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform maintenance inspections and repairs on all vehicles presented.
2. Identify vehicle faults and repair as necessary.
3. Plan safety inspections at least six months in advance in consultation with the Workshop Supervisor, including all statutory obligations.
4. Complete all required brake tests.
5. Conduct test drives post-repair to verify roadworthiness.
6. Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment for safety.
7. Complete inspection and repair documentation manually or electronically after work.
8. Work outside normal hours when operationally required.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Industry-recognized qualifications (City & Guilds / NVQ Level Three in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair).
* Experience maintaining large fleets.
* Cat C Driving Licence.
* Experience working on hydraulic systems.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with refuse collection vehicles.
* Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence (DQC).
* Welding and fabrication skills.
* Experience with electric vehicles.
* Customer engagement skills for long-term relationships.
* Resilience and self-awareness to challenge and be challenged.
