Cardiology Support Worker

Cardiology Support Worker, up to 37.5 hours per week Band 3

We have an exiting opportunity for Cardiology Support worker at the new Community Diagnostic Centre in Workington that is due to open in July. You will work as part of a busy multi-disciplinary team, providing support to the Cardiac Physiologists, Nurses and Doctors.

The essential criteria for this role includes the requirement to have a care certificate or the willingness and ability to undertake this. For further information, please see the additional information link which can be viewed under the "read this before applying" section.


Main duties of the job

Your role will be performing a range of tests such as ECG's, fitting cardiac monitors, blood pressure monitors and performing venepuncture. You will also support cardiac and respiratory Physiologist with more complex investigations such as Echocardiography, 6 minute walk tests and and pulmonary function testing. You will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other departmental duties such general tidiness, equipment cleaning, stock replenishment and general administrative duties. Applicants should possess GCSE in English language and Maths and NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) Experience of working in a healthcare environment is essential. You should have good communication skills and able to work as part of a team or individually. You should have the ability to prioritise your own workload and work to deadlines.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* GCSE Maths and English.
* NVQ 3 (or equivalent)
* Care Certificate
* Certificate in Electrocardiography (SCST)


Experience

* Working within a health care environment providing care for patients with a range of condition..
* Performing ECG's and other relevant investigations such as BP monitors and Holter recorders


Knowledge

* Understanding of Tests performed within the department and conditions treated.
* Ability to maintain and improve knowledge, skills and competence to ensure high standards of patient care
*. Understanding of confidentiality
* Use of PAS.
* Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems


Skills and Aptitudes

* Good Communication (both verbal and written).
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Good Organisational skills.
* Able to prioritise work and work to deadlines.
* Ability to work under own initiative and also as part of a team.
* Ability to follow routine procedures and problem solve non-routine issues.
* Good Keyboard Skills.
* Venepuncture and cannulation

* Able to work across sites if required.
* Act in ways that support equality and value diversity
