At Barts Health NHS Trust we pride ourselves in delivering the latest in evidence based healthcare. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who want to help us to develop the evidence base in emergency medicine further. Applicants ideally will have a background in emergency department nursing and/or clinical research, and should be willing to help our team to work with other hospitals both nationally and internationally to develop and deliver research into the latest practice in emergency medicine.

We are currently recruiting to fill a full time position to join our award winning team of research nurses and develop research across Barts Health Emergency Departments. The successful applicants will contribute to a team of nurses working across the three acute hospital sites to recruit patients into National institute of Health Research (NIHR) portfolio studies

Main duties of the job

The role will involve the identification of potential participants to the TiLLI research study. The research nurse will provide information to potential participants about TiLLI and gain informed consent. The research nurse will be a point of contact for participants and health professionals and will have responsibility for managing study data and follow-up of participants. The research nurse will assist in the development and implementation of the wider Emergency Department research agenda.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Diploma/Degree or equivalent qualification in Nursing
2. Current NMC Registration

Desirable criteria

3. Holds current certificates in ICH/GCP and Research Governance or working towards
4. Mentorship
5. Masters in clinical research
6. ALS/ILS/APLS or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria

7. Applicant will have experiential knowledge of either emergency department nursing or research delivery nursing

Desirable criteria

8. Knowledge and understanding of ICH GCP, other research governance
9. Knowledge of current landscape of clinical trials in emergency medicine

Experience

Essential criteria

10. Relevant clinical experience
11. Experience of working as part of a team
12. Experience of working to deadlines
13. Evidence of good computer literacy
14. Experience of MS Office applications
15. Phlebotomy and cannulation
16. Evidence of experience at self-management within a given area
17. Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentorship of learners
