Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity within Northumbria Critical Care. The unit is a 15-bedded Critical Care unit located within a Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.
Our critical care unit is busy, progressive, and patient-centred. We are committed to quality and emphasize developing healthcare practice through ownership, research, evidence-based practices, and multidisciplinary involvement.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and organize all staff within the department to provide quality nursing care and management for the critical care unit.
2. Share skills and knowledge with colleagues and learners.
3. Contribute to development within the critical care unit.
4. Participate in internal rotation shifts, including day and night shifts.
5. Provide and facilitate high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients.
6. Take regular charge of the department and deputize for the team leader as rostered.
7. Facilitate education and development of nursing and non-nursing staff within the team.
8. Offer specialist advice to multidisciplinary staff and serve as an Outreach resource.
9. Contribute to the development of clinical practice within critical care.
10. Support the Modern Matron and Senior Sisters in resource and personnel management over a 24-hour period.
11. Model compassionate and inclusive leadership to foster a collective leadership culture within the trust, engaging, enabling, and empowering others through coaching, teamwork, and collaboration.
We serve three major hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, along with smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed. Our services extend to home care and community-based facilities, providing patients with greater choice and control to live independently and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.
