Platform Engineer Type: Permanent WFH: Hybrid (3 days WFH) Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester We’ve partnered with a Software-Development house, who are currently seeking a Platform Engineer to help evolve and optimise their cloud-native infrastructure as the platform continues to scale. The business has recently completed its migration from on-premise infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform and is now focused on building a modern, scalable, and highly reliable cloud platform. This role sits within the Platform team and will focus on improving infrastructure reliability, automation, and developer enablement. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to build scalable infrastructure, improve operational tooling, and ensure the platform remains secure and resilient. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-native infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform Ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the platform and supporting infrastructure Continue to automate infrastructure provisioning and operational workflows using Infrastructure-as-Code Collaborate with development teams to deliver platform tooling that supports product development Build and maintain self-service platform capabilities that enable teams to deploy and operate services independently Maintain high engineering standards through documentation, tooling, and best practices Participate in a paid on-call rotation to support platform reliability and incident response Skills & Experience Strong Linux systems knowledge (Debian, RHEL/CentOS environments) Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure also considered) Infrastructure as Code expertise, particularly Terraform Configuration management experience (Ansible, Puppet, Packer) CI/CD pipeline development and management (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, FluxCD) Scripting or programming experience (Python, Bash, Go, or similar) Experience working with databases, particularly MySQL Exposure to CDN technologies (Fastly or similar) Understanding of networking, physical infrastructure, and security fundamentals Knowledge of email infrastructure and SMTP systems, such as Postfix, is advantageous Benefits & Perks Hybrid working with two core office days per week Matched pension contributions Cycle to Work scheme Home & Tech scheme Season ticket travel loans Health, sports, and well-being contributions Optional private healthcare and cash plan
