Our client, located in the Middlesbrough area, is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager with proven experience in Construction, Civil or Petrochemical Engineering. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving the HSE strategy, ensuring compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
·Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s HSE strategy, policies, and management systems
·Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities
·Provide expert HSE advice and guidance to project teams and operational staff
·Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions
·Deliver HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks to promote awareness and engagement across all levels
·Maintain and update all HSE documentation, procedures, and reports
·Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, regulatory authorities, and auditors
·Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practice across the organisation
Key Requirements:
·Proven experience in an HSE management role within construction, civil, or petrochemical engineering
·NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
·Practical experience with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems
·Strong understanding of current UK HSE legislation and industry best practice
·Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills with the ability to influence at all levels
·Clean driving licence and access to vehicle required for site visits
Working Hours: Monday – Friday (Hours to be discussed)
