Overview

A Vacancy at Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated data analyst to join the Trusts Public Health Data & Intelligence team, in a post with a level 7 apprenticeship. The post holder will support the Public Health team working collaboratively with our Information Services Team, clinical and non-clinical services as well as wider system partners. The successful candidate will use available health and care data supporting the Trust to ensure we influence service quality improvements. You will collect, analyse, interpret and present varied and complex public health related intelligence/data to a wide range of audiences.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship combining a level 7 qualification with on-the-job experiential learning. As well as developing your technical skills you will also develop leadership skills so that by the end of the apprenticeship you should be competent to lead and oversee analytical teams.

The role is fixed term for three years. The role is full time, and you will be part of a national cohort of apprentices. You will undertake a 22-month Level 7 Health and Care Intelligence Specialist Apprenticeship where 20% of worktime will be dedicated to apprenticeship learning (remotely) with training provider JGA Group. You must be in a position to start the post by December at the latest due to apprenticeship deadlines. Appropriate right to work must be in place at the time of application to the post. We are unable to offer sponsorship.

The Trusts Public Health Team works to address health inequalities in patients’ access, experience and outcomes. The role supports the team to work across the Trust and with external partners to help our services to understand and define their data, bringing about change & quality improve healthcare services.

You will focus on analysing health data to improve public health outcomes, support policymaking and enhance efficiency in our healthcare services. You will have excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail so you can work with Trust services and partners to understand problems which data is needed to solve and provide insight through written reports and presentations.

The role involves working with large datasets, collaborating with services across the Trust and with external partners, ensuring compliance with Trust regulations.

Applicants who already have all the knowledge and skills covered in the apprenticeship will not be eligible for this post.

The post-holder will be part of the Public Health Team with a focus on the provision of a comprehensive data, public health and health inequalities intelligence, supporting the Trust to understand the health behaviours of our patient population.

The role involves the use of complex information systems and associated datasets, capable of processing large volumes of patient-based and summary health data to improve health.


Responsibilities

* Support the Public Health Data & Intelligence team and collaborate with Information Services, clinical/non-clinical services, and external partners.
* Collect, analyse, interpret and present varied and complex public health related intelligence/data to a wide range of audiences.
* Analyse health data to improve public health outcomes, support policymaking and enhance efficiency in healthcare services.
* Provide health intelligence advice to facilitate change and service quality improvements.
* Work with large datasets and ensure compliance with Trust regulations.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Essential Criteria: Advanced computing skills in one or more programming languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python, PowerBI), Microsoft Office, and ability to adapt to new software.
* Experience of providing health intelligence advice to support health and wellbeing of individuals, groups and/or communities.
* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
* Apprenticeship Entry Requirements: Level 2 qualifications (GCSE or equivalent) in maths and English. Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.
* UK citizen or have proof of right to work in the UK. If not UK/EEA, must have resided in the UK for the last 3 years.
* Meet essential qualification criteria in the role profile and provide original qualification certificates at interview.
* Do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same or closely related field to the apprenticeship.

The successful candidate will undertake a 22-month Level 7 Health and Care Intelligence Specialist Apprenticeship, with 20% of worktime dedicated to apprenticeship learning (remote) with JGA Group.
