Job Description Summary Job Description Location: Stafford, United Kingdom Contract type: Permanent Working arrangement: Hybrid Build the infrastructure that powers tomorrow You play a key role in delivering major grid projects that help bring secure, reliable electricity to communities and industries. As a Construction Manager, you lead site construction activities from early project planning through to execution and completion, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex, high-value work, shape site delivery strategy, and lead teams across challenging and rewarding projects. You work closely with project leaders, customers, subcontractors, and site teams to turn plans into successful outcomes. What you’ll do You lead the construction delivery strategy for your projects and make sure site activities are set up for success from the outset. You guide teams, coordinate stakeholders, and keep a clear focus on safety, quality, schedule, and cost. In this role, you will: Define and lead the construction and installation strategy across one or more project sites Support tender and project planning activities, including site costing, scheduling, and construction documentation Help shape subcontracting and partner delivery strategies and support their implementation throughout the project lifecycle Lead and manage site teams, setting clear goals and creating an environment where people can perform at their best Oversee mobilisation plans, site resourcing, and delivery progress against plan Act as a key point of contact for construction-related matters with customers, subcontractors, and project partners Coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure site works have the information, materials, and support needed at the right time Drive construction and commissioning planning within the overall project schedule Manage construction risks and opportunities, helping the wider project team make informed decisions Monitor site performance through regular reporting on safety, progress, subcontract status, and budget Support continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and strengthening construction processes, tools, and ways of working What you’ll bring You bring strong construction management experience from complex infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects, along with the leadership skills to guide teams and deliver safely in live project environments. We’d love to hear from you if you have: Strong experience leading construction activities on large-scale electrical infrastructure or substation projects A solid background in site delivery covering civil, electrical, and commissioning activities Experience managing subcontractors, site teams, and multiple stakeholders across project delivery A strong understanding of health and safety leadership in construction environments The ability to balance safety, quality, cost, and schedule while keeping delivery moving Confidence communicating with customers, partners, and internal teams Good planning, reporting, and coordination skills Strong written and spoken English It would be helpful if you also have: Experience working on projects in the UK Knowledge of high- and medium-voltage equipment, control systems, or protection systems Familiarity with environmental and construction standards relevant to major infrastructure projects Experience supporting offshore or marine-related electrical installation work Health and safety qualifications relevant to construction site leadership Equivalent practical experience is valued, and you do not need to meet every preferred requirement to apply.
