We're currently recruiting for a Project Health & Safety Manager in Newton Abbot, South Devon, working on expanding HMP Channings Wood.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a project with a scope that includes state-of-the-art construction, such as two new fully electric, energy-efficient T60 houseblocks, along with various ancillary works.

Responsibilities:
This role provides leadership in Health, Safety, and Wellbeing for our HMP Channings Wood project. The Manager will serve as the primary contact for the project team and liaise with the Kier Construction Western & Wales Construction & Engineering Director and Regional HS&W Manager.
Key duties include:
* Acting as the conduit for communication between the project team and senior management regarding HSW matters.
* Developing and maintaining the project's HSW strategy aligned with business and project-specific plans.
* Cascading regional HSW communications, safety reports, lessons learned, and disseminating information through briefings and meetings.
* Charing fortnightly HSW meetings to ensure coordination, communication, and implementation of actions across site teams and supply chain.
* Conducting Site Safety Inspections (SSI), advising on safety and recording findings using Novade.
* Reviewing SSI corrective actions and ensuring timely closure.
* Advising teams on risk assessments, safe systems of work, and checking method statements.
* Updating regional and project directors on HSW issues, especially following incidents or enforcement communications.
Qualifications and Experience:
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in occupational health and safety.
* Significant experience leading construction H&S on major Tier one contracts in a senior management role.
* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder influence skills.
* Thorough knowledge of H&S legislation, regulations, and best practices.
* Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop effective solutions.
* Experience managing HSW aspects of major construction projects.
* Experience with behavioral change programs in H&S.
