Role
We are seeking a Jointer to construct, maintain, and repair the electrical distribution network. This vital role involves preparing the network for a renewable and electric future, covering over 100,000 km of network and 30,000 substations, serving more than 3.5 million homes and businesses across Scotland, England, and Wales. Training, tools, and PPE are provided, and once authorized, the role includes a paid standby rota, typically on a 1:6 rotation.
What you'll be doing
You will ensure all site works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies. Responsibilities include acting as safety lead during works, performing cablehead changes, fuse replacements, fault location, generator deployment, jointing, and issuing safety documents. You may also assist other trades as needed.
You should be able to plan and execute work safely, demonstrate attention to detail, and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, delivering excellent customer service and essential services 24/7/365.
What you’ll bring
Proven experience in jointing, testing, and fault finding. Experience in utilities is preferred but not essential. Good knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, along with strong communication skills, are required.
Minimum requirements
* City and Guilds or NVQ or equivalent experience
* Current or previous employment as an electrical cable jointer (LV, HV, EHV)
* Driving license
