SACT Chemotherapy Outpatient Nurse (Developmental Band 5 / or Band 6)

SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) Chemotherapy Outpatient Nurse (Developmental Band 5 / or Established Band 6)

**Weekdays only** (no weekends, nights or bank holidays).

Due to staff development within our team, we have an exciting opening for a Staff Nurse to join our highly skilled and knowledgeable chemotherapy outpatients team.

Those SACT trained and interested in working within our team, please apply for consideration of Band 6 role.

For those who are not SACT trained but who are interested in the role, please also apply as we will provide all relevant training. Successful candidates appointed on the developmental pathway, will initially work at Band 5 level until all relevant training/competencies have been achieved, and then moving into band 6 position (expected time-frame 1-2 years).

The service covers units at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Bracknell Healthspace and West Berkshire Community Hospital, Thatcham.

Career progression and further education is highly encouraged and many of our nurses have gone on to become Clinical Nurse Specialists, Research Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Ward Sisters.

The units are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6:30pm.

Full time staff work 4 days per week, and part-time staff work until 4:30pm.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Staff Nurse with an interest in Oncology to join our compassionate and highly knowledgeable team. Although previous experience is desired, it is not essential.

You will be qualified for a minimum of one year and ideally competent in cannulation and IV therapy, however, training would be provided.

Experience administering chemotherapy is an advantage but full training (including an accredited university module) will be given.

Job responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for undertaking and recording comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced-based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.

Deliver care without direct supervision and be accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care.

Teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.

Be accountable for care or any omissions of care that you delegate to others.

Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse - part 1
* Evidence of recent continuous professional development
* Working towards masters


Experience

* Experience (through placement or employment) of working in an acute clinical environment
* N59/Care of the patient receiving chemotherapy module
* Competent in venepuncture, cannulation and the use of CVAD's

£31,049 to £46,580 a yearper annum (pro-rata if part-time)
