Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist in delivering outdoor projects and events in green spaces, schools, and other sites.
2. Support the delivery of outdoor activities such as corporate days, education sessions, and the Citizen Forester public volunteering programme, including:
1. Practical conservation activities like woodland creation, tree planting, mulching, weeding, habitat management, vegetation clearance, invasive species removal, and other conservation works.
2. Ad-hoc events including dementia-friendly walks and nature-based engagement activities.
3. Help prepare and load tools and equipment for site/events, and handle unpacking, cleaning vehicles, and tool maintenance upon return to the base.
4. Assist with sorting deliveries of trees and materials at the operational base, and perform warehouse tasks.
5. Work with the team to build positive relationships with local communities.
6. Represent and uphold the City of Trees brand and reputation during events and on-site activities.
7. Support the Urban Forestry Services Team with tasks such as tree planting, maintenance, and woodland management as needed.
8. Work flexibly and undertake additional duties as assigned, including occasional evening and weekend work with the team.
9. Prioritize health and safety during events and at the operational base.
10. Participate in formal and informal training programs.
11. Perform duties in accordance with Equal Opportunities, Child & Vulnerable Adult, and Health and Safety policies.
12. Travel across Greater Manchester as required.
Candidate Requirements:
* Full clean driving license.
* Excellent timekeeping and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience in the environmental sector, especially community engagement, is beneficial.
About the Role:
Join our team for the tree planting season to support various City of Trees projects across Greater Manchester, including tree planting, environmental education, woodland management, and greenspace improvements. You will work with diverse groups such as schools, corporate volunteers, and local communities, supporting our Citizen Forester events.
