Management Accountant | Paying upto £55k | Onsite | Permanent
An established and reputable business within the construction and civil engineering sector is seeking a Management Accountant to join its finance team at its Trafford Park head office. The company has a strong reputation for delivering complex projects and continues to grow through innovation and operational excellence.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused and proactive finance professional to play a key role in driving performance, improving processes, and supporting operational decision-making across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely management information, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and partnering with operational and commercial teams to provide financial insight.
The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach to process improvement, automation of reporting, and providing meaningful analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and present monthly management accounts, providing clear commentary and variance analysis
* Partner with operational and project teams to understand performance drivers and support commercial decisions
* Produce and review P&L statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports for senior management
* Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring alignment with business objectives
* Develop and automate financial reporting tools to improve accuracy and efficiency
* Drive process improvement initiatives across finance and operations, promoting a culture of financial awareness
* Lead the preparation of key financial information for board and leadership reporting
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies
* Support ad-hoc analysis and financial modelling to aid strategic planning and business development
About You
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and results-driven Management Accountant with strong analytical and commercial skills. You will thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and have the confidence to challenge and influence at all levels of the business.
Key Skills and Experience
* Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) - study support available if required
* At least 4-6 years of experience within management accounting or commercial finance
* Proven experience in producing management accounts, variance analysis, and board reporting
* Strong business partnering skills with the ability to communicate financial insights to non-finance stakeholders
* Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems advantageous
* Experience in improving reporting processes, automation, and overall efficiency
* Confident, proactive, and capable of working independently in a busy, project-led environment
