ROLE: Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer - Electrical Bias
HOURS: Shift pattern – 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 nights off
LOCATION: Swansea

The role includes planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and support to project and billable works, ensuring minimal disruption to critical operations and full compliance with statutory requirements.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with SFG20, statutory requirements, and contractual obligations
2. Complete reactive maintenance tasks in response to faults, breakdowns, or service requests
3. Ensure all electrical systems are maintained in a safe and fully operational condition
4. Support statutory inspections and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. BS)
5. Diagnose electrical faults across a range of systems including: LV distribution Lighting and emergency lighting Power systems and controls
6. Undertake repairs efficiently to restore service with minimal downtime
7. Identify root causes and recommend long-term solutions where appropriate
8. Assist with small works, project delivery, and billable works across the estate
9. Provide technical input for quotations and scopes of work
10. Support installation, upgrades, and system improvements
11. Ensure works are completed to specification, on time, and within budget
12. Work in accordance with site Health & Safety procedures, permits, and safe systems of work
13. Ensure full compliance with: Electricity at Work Regulations Site-specific control of work processes (e.g. Permit to Work, Authority to Work)
14. Accurately complete all documentation and maintain clear audit trails
15. Update CAFM systems with detailed job notes, completion evidence, and status updates
16. Capture and record all relevant data for: PPM completion Reactive works Billable / chargeable works
17. Highlight risks, non-compliance, and recurring issues to management
Required Qualifications:
18. Qualified Electrician (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / equivalent)
19. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS)
20. Experience delivering PPM and reactive maintenance in a commercial or public sector environment
21. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
22. Experience working within a CAFM system
23. Experience working on government or secure sites (desirable)
24. Knowledge of permit systems and controlled environments (desirable)
25. Experience supporting billable works / small projects (desirable)
26. Basic understanding of compliance frameworks and auditing requirements (desirable)
27. HVAC / air conditioning knowledge or experience, particularly in: Control systems Electrical aspects of HVAC plant Working alongside AC engineers (highly desirable)
