Our current HCA is leaving us after many years to train as a nurse. We are looking for our next senior healthcare assistant based at the Ilkley site for I G Medical.
I G Medical is a multi site 18000 patient list size practice with a large and diverse clinical team.

Main duties of the job
To supportthe practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as partof the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope ofpractice to the entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision oftreatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education

Job responsibilities
Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the healthcare assistant. There maybe on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependentupon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
b.Supportthe practice nurses with health promotion programmes
c.Carryout baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature,pulse rate, recording findings accurately
d.Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
e.Undertakewound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
f.Supportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
g.Carryout BMI checks as directed
i.Undertakevenepuncture
j.Administerflu vaccinations/B12 injections
k.Carryout ear irrigation
l.Carryout ECGs as requested
m.Deliverof domicilary service in the community
n.Ensurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
o.Providesupport during minor operations as required
p.Ensureall clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
q.Ensurefridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
r.Ensureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the practice IPC policy
s.Deliveropportunistic health promotion where appropriate
t.Useof clinical system software for audit purposes
Person Specification
Qualifications
* QualificationsEssential
* Healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level
* Ear syringing certification
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
* Wound Care / Removal of sutures & staples
* ECGs
* Venepuncture
* New patient medicals inc. Height, weight, BP, Pulse
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
* Clear, polite telephone manner
* Effective time management (Planning & Organising)
* Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
* Good interpersonal skills
* Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
* Chaperone procedure
* Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
