The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

This role supports the Project Officers in the design, development, collation, management, analysis and delivery of performance management information, in order to drive performance and efficiencies in the Criminal Justice Department.

In this role you will:

1. Be a competent systems user (eg. Niche, Microsoft 365) responsible for managing the development and testing of business processes relating to force systems.
2. Lead the development, collection, verification and presentation of project, performance and management information.
3. Ensure decision making is supported by accurate evidence.
4. Prepare presentations, reports and briefing documents, and assist in the co-ordination and assessment of these.
5. Lead on the design and implementation of the technical aspects of projects, working with project leads and providing specialist advice.
6. Ensure ongoing liaison with partner agencies, such as the Home Office, HMICFRS (His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services), Probation, CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) and many others, regarding core system administration.
7. Identify and problem-solve systems / process issues or improvements, negotiating with partners to resolve and minimise the impact on core business.
8. Lead the management and control of Freedom of Information requests and HMICFRS inspection work on behalf of the department, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and requirements.
9. Act as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to practitioners and the Performance Information Unit providing specialist advice and guidance on systems utilisation to enhance performance and efficiency.
10. Using both technical and business knowledge, act as a link between specialist departments within the organisation in relation to problem solving and continuous development of police processes.
11. Undertake other duties as appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required.

Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

12. Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent, including A-C in Maths and English.
13. Fully IT literate with a good level of competency in use of MS Office applications.

Knowledge & Experience:

14. Proven experience in producing and providing a wide range of statistics, data, managing information and reporting, to facilitate performance management and service delivery.

15. Experience of manipulating data using advanced functionality in Excel.

16. Good numeric, mathematical, statistical and analytical knowledge and technical skills.

17. Experience of liaising with partners and both internal and external stakeholders.

18. Experience of managing competing priorities and the expectations of managers and those who have commissioned work.

19. Proven experience in providing excellent customer service.

Skills:

20. Able to demonstrate a high level of oral communication skills, including the ability to contribute or present to colleagues, managers, and Force Boards.
21. Able to produce a high standard of written communication, appropriate for the purpose and audience, including reports, guidance, and updates.
22. Possess research skills using a range of sources with the ability to assess and interpret information and act as a specialist adviser to colleagues, managers, and the wider Force.
23. Ability to become a competent ‘super-user’ in the use of core force systems (e.g. Niche).
24. Ability to make sound decisions and assess risk using judgement and discretion to know when to escalate decisions.
25. Excellent planning and organising skills and a high level of attention to detail
26. Ability to work without direct supervision and demonstrate a high level of self-management, motivation, drive and determination
