Job title: Teaching Assistant (TA2)

Salary: Term Time + 5 days NJC07 – NJC11 £26, £28,142.00 FTE pro rata Actual salary: £22,888.73 to £24,396.26

Start date: ASAP

Job purpose:

* To support the Inclusion Team and teaching staff in establishing a positive learning culture which ensures high standards of achievement, progress and personal development in pupils.
* To provide in-class support to pupils in liaison with the class teacher and according to the schedule published by the HOF, Inclusion Team and Pupil Experience Leader.
* To work with the Vice Principal, Inclusion Team and subject teachers to plan and lead specific interventions with identified pupils and/or groups in academic, pastoral and restorative practice.
* To support SEND pupils and work collaboratively with the Houlton Inclusion Team to ensure each child is making good progress and that need is being met.
* To support embedding the core values of Houlton School.
* To support all pupils to engage with learning.

Responsible to: Head of Faculty: Inclusion

Responsible for:

* To be responsible for supporting identified individuals and groups both academically and pastorally
* To collaborate with the Inclusion Team and teaching staff and liaise with parents as appropriate
* To be on call when needed to support children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
* To provide support for identified pupils in class
* To oversee behaviour and progress of pupils with EHC plans as directed by the SENDCo
* To support the Inclusion Team to remove welfare barriers to learning through individual and small group intervention, enabling pupils to make at least expected progress
* To support SEND learners to make good progress
* To deal with issues in a positive manner, communicating actions to staff and parents as appropriate
* To lead and manage the CFC and develop the centre in a manner that creates a supportive learning environment
* To work as part of the team of Pastoral Support Assistants, sharing duties and information as appropriate
* To actively use SIMS, CPOMS and Edulink to ensure that incidents and actions are meticulously logged
* To liaise with outside agencies and attend meetings as appropriate
* To attend meetings and reviews as necessary, contacting parents as required
* To be alert to safeguarding issues, log and pass on concerns as appropriate, deal confidentially and sensitively with parents and students undergoing difficulties
* To collate accounts and collation of information in response to incidents of challenging behaviour
* To form positive relationships with children and their families
* To support staff with restorative practice processes
* To undertake training commensurate with the post
* To respect confidentiality at all times
* To understand and apply school policies in relation to health, safety welfare and Child Protection
* To ensure that all duties and services provided are in accordance with School's Equal Opportunities Policy
* To enforce expectations with regard to uniform, attendance, punctuality and respectful behaviour

Management Information

* To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant accurate and up-to-date information for MIS, registers, etc.
* To complete the relevant documentation to assist in the tracking of pupils.
* To support the SENDCo in making appropriate referrals.

Marketing and Liaison

* To take part in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Evenings, Parents Evenings, Review days and liaison events with partner schools.
* To contribute to the development of effective subject links with external agencies.
* To promote a positive image of Houlton School through dealings with outside bodies.

Management of Resources

* To contribute to the process of the ordering and allocation of equipment and materials.
* To co-operate with other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of resources to the benefit of the school, team and the pupils.

Staff, Performance Management and Professional Development

* We are committed to ongoing CPD and offer a variety of formal and informal support to all staff no matter what their role.

Premises and Administration

* To ensure that the team's learning environment is safe, well maintained and attractive and in keeping with the School Health and Safety policy, reporting any concerns directly to the Site Manager.

Other Specific Duties

* To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage staff and pupils to follow this example.
* To promote actively the school's corporate policies.
* To continue personal development as agreed.
* To comply with the school's Health and Safety Policy and undertake risk assessments as appropriate.
* To undertake any other duty as specified by STPCD not mentioned in the above.
