Associate Director – Civil Structural Engineering

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director in Civil Structural Engineering to join their Manchester office. This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering complex heavy civil engineering projects across multiple sectors including Defence, Energy, Cities & Development, and Water.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary design teams, managing project delivery from initial concept through to construction. They will be responsible for defining project scopes, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring the highest quality standards are met. Collaboration with teams both in the UK and internationally will be key to delivering integrated design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Direct and oversee technical design teams following relevant design standards and codes.
* Develop briefs, scopes of work, and contribute to bid proposals.
* Manage project timelines, budgets, and milestones efficiently.
* Set and maintain quality assurance standards in design.
* Support the growth and development of heavy civil engineering expertise within the practice.
Candidate Profile:
* Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or equivalent.
* Proven track record in design delivery, including multidisciplinary projects.
* In-depth knowledge of heavy civil engineering structures such as reinforced concrete and steel, with experience across all design phases and construction.
* Familiarity with British Standards and preferably international codes.
