One of the core responsibilities of the role is to drive the development and delivery of the Police and Crime Plan and the Commissioners commitment to his mission-based approach. This is a pivotal leadership role with the opportunity to shape the future of policing and community safety across Bedfordshire. You will be at the heart of strategic decision making, driving reform that directly impacts lives. As the Head of Policy and Commissioning you will provide leadership, guidance and oversight of the commissioning function and the restorative justice team, including managing staff performance, staff development and staff welfare. The Head of Policy and Commissioning will also oversee the work of the Policy team, undertake research and gather objective evidence to support the policy making process to influence policy decisions and ensure that the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPCC) are ahead of policy change. The role of the OPCC is to support the statutory functions of a PCC, with a key focus on supporting delivery against the local Police and Crime Plan.
