🔍 About the Role
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Tier 1 residential developer delivering one of North West London’s largest and most ambitious regeneration schemes.
Valued at circa £300 million, this major mixed-tenure development will deliver over 1,000 new homes across multiple high-rise phases — including private sale, affordable housing, and build-to-rent (BTR) units. The scheme also features landscaped public spaces, retail offerings, and premium amenities, creating a vibrant new destination within the capital.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll report directly to the Commercial Manager, taking responsibility for the commercial management of key phases within the programme. You’ll lead on procurement, cost planning, contract administration, and value engineering, ensuring financial and delivery objectives are achieved across the project.
You will also support the Commercial Manager in overseeing and developing junior surveyors, providing mentorship, guidance, and structure across the commercial team. This role offers a clear route to Commercial Manager level, where you’ll go on to lead future major projects within the developer’s London portfolio.
đź’ Key Responsibilities
* Report to and support the Commercial Manager in managing the project’s overall commercial performance.
* Lead on procurement, tendering, subcontractor management, and cost reporting.
* Oversee valuations, variations, change control, and contract administration.
* Produce detailed cost forecasts, cash flows, and commercial risk assessments.
* Implement value engineering initiatives to enhance efficiency while maintaining design quality.
* Collaborate with project, design, and technical teams to align budgets, programme, and delivery goals.
* Manage and mentor junior surveyors, assisting the Commercial Manager in developing team capability and performance.
🎓 Skills & Experience Required
* Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
* Proven track record as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale RC frame or mixed-use residential schemes.
* Strong understanding of procurement strategy, cost control, and contract management.
* Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to support, guide, and motivate junior members of the commercial team.
* Commercially astute, proactive, and confident working within a multi-phase regeneration environment.
* Proficient in Excel and cost management systems.
