Role overview
Due to our incredible growth across Home Claims, we're bringing in this brand-new role to the business. As a Technical Controller, you will use your extensive knowledge and experience in property claims to support the progression of Large and Complex Loss Claims (generally over £250k). You'll act as a technical referral point for other colleagues in the team, whilst handling some of our most complex Claims in our portfolio. You'll also be responsible for supporting the delivery of great customer outcomes - all whilst protecting our claims spend.
Job details - you'll need to have demonstrable experience in:
* Managing claims over £250k, including presenting case plans to underwriters and reinsurers and proactively managing and maintaining a portfolio of large loss and complex claims, utilising relevant activity systems, to reach optimum settlement
* Serving as a referral point and subject matter expert - acting as a mentor to claims handlers, providing support, guidance and additional support with upskilling and technical development where required
* Working with our Technical Manager to support with the creation and updates to claims policies, philosophies, best practice guides, and supporting with claim reviews and initiatives aimed at improving our claims handling processes
* Regular in-depth reviews of live large loss claims, providing real time intervention and course correction to prevent complaints and leakage, ensuring reserves are accurate and overcoming any potential challenges and controlling spend
* Delivering regular training on topics, case surgeries and coaching to help handlers set and reach development goals and provide long term succession planning within the department
* Regularly reviewing MI to check adherence to SLA's/milestones and spotting outliers, intervening where there are early sign of problematic claims or trends and provide oversight of high-profile claims/complaints, including regular checks and controls of high-profile, high value and challenging claims to ensure optimum service
Essential skills/experience:
* Extensive experience in handling both building and contents claims on domestic properties
* Proven experience of managing domestic claims with a handling authority in excess of £200/250k on a regular basis
* In-depth knowledge of indemnity and underwriting principles
* Able to demonstrate a customer centric approach and show how you'd go the extra mile, evidencing this in work and communication
