Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Project Initiation and Planning:
1. Attend final tender meetings with the DOM and Commercial team to clarify scope and responsibilities
2. Ensure project documents, scope, value, and other requirements align with the quotation
3. Lead the project handover from the estimator to the Delivery Team
2. Financial Management:
4. Prepare and manage the project budget
5. Conduct Weekly and Monthly Cost/Value Reviews
6. Develop and implement site bonus schemes.
3. Resource Coordination:
7. Coordinate with the DOM to assign the correct plant and personnel
8. Conduct pre-site visits with the Supervisor and Engineer (if assigned) to ensure readiness
9. Assist the supervisor with mobilisation lists and advise the buying department on long-lead items
10. Organise plant requirements and manage plant costs and damages
4. Sub-Contractor and Materials Management:
11. Ensure concrete/grout and reinforcement procurement, including necessary trials
12. Organise sub-contractors for various tasks as needed
13. Coordinate with purchasing on material orders
5. Client Communication and Documentation:
14. Maintain clear and effective communication with the client
15. Ensure project plans and coordination align with the scope of works
16. Produce and manage project-specific documents including RAMS/WPP, Programmes, Quality Plans, ITPs, Lift Plans, task briefs, and reports
6. Project Supervision and Management:
17. Oversee project works to ensure they are performed safely, efficiently, and to specifications
18. Keep clients informed on site works and manage any changes in costs, timelines, or additional work
19. Monitor weekly costs to ensure budget compliance and production efficiency
20. Produce weekly reports for the commercial team and address any EWNs, CEs, or Quotations with the Client
7. Contractual Management
21. Understand the contractual requirement and administer the contract with the support of Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
8. Quality and Leadership Management:
22. Issue quality records and reports, manage NCRs, and monitor test cube results
23. Complete close-out reports, REX reports, O&M, As-builts, and financial summaries at project completion
24. Foster teamwork and cohesion among staff
25. Lead safety and environmental performance initiatives
26. Address HiPOs, Incident Reports, and Accident reports promptly with SHEQ department support
9. Innovation and Sustainability:
27. Participate in and lead developments in alternative technologies and materials to support environmental goals
28. Ensure the Company’s core values are embedded in all decisions made and shape your behaviour
Main Purpose of the Job:
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for the comprehensive management of projects from initiation to completion. The PM ensures adherence to company procedures and provides regular project updates to the Divisional Operations Manager (DOM). Key responsibilities include delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining net margins and high client satisfaction. The PM ensures compliance with work procedures and collaborates with BSL Site Supervisors to maintain safe and efficient site operations. Immediate escalation to the DOM is required if project performance does not meet expectations.
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications Required:
29. To provide operational leadership to the Northern Division
30. Leadership in operational delivery and interpersonal domain is expected
31. Drive and lead performance excellence in safety, quality, environmental, technical, operations and financial areas
32. Ability to identify improvement opportunities to increase profitability from projects activities. To identify and drive improvement initiatives and strategy in coordination with the DOM
33. Technical and engineering knowledge and experience of geotechnical techniques and related civil structures
34. Excellent people management skills and a proven record of success in managing and developing construction teams
35. Team player and approachable to all whatever their level of responsibility
36. Have good links within the industry and with potential clients
37. Active role with the business targeting to lower the carbon intensity of our operations
38. Continual improvement focused with a view of always seeking to improve the efficiency and profitability of the business
