Location: Kensington NSW Australia (Hybrid Flexible Working).
Employment Type: Full time – 35 hour per week.
Remuneration: Level B from $127,947 and Level C from $155,403 (plus 17% superannuation and leave loading).
Duration: Tenure Track.
Why Your Role Matters
The School of Risk & Actuarial Studies has an established international reputation for excellence in its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role will report to the Head of School and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities
* Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
* Create scholarly impact recognised by peers in the advancement of disciplinary knowledge.
* Conduct research under limited supervision, independently or as a team, and design research projects.
* Contribute to competitive funding applications as co-investigator or chief investigator.
* Mentor and guide students and colleagues, supervising HDRs (HDR denotes Doctor of Philosophy).
For Senior Lecturer (Level C) additional responsibilities include:
* Make independent contributions to research that have a significant impact in their field of expertise.
* Develop research groups in area of specialist expertise and research methods.
* Attract peer recognition and establish research network(s) at national level.
* Obtain research income from nationally competitive grants and research end-users.
Qualifications
Level B:
* A PhD in a related discipline (e.g., actuarial studies, economics, econometrics, risk and insurance, quantitative finance, machine learning).
* Capability to contribute to the school’s core research and teaching strengths.
* Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge.
* Demonstrated track record in research with high quality and impact.
* Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
* Desirable: post-doctoral research experience, industry experience, or professional actuarial qualifications.
Level C:
* Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
* Demonstrated success in curriculum development and improvement.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
* Demonstrated ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding.
* Desirable: post-doctoral research experience, industry experience, or professional actuarial qualifications.
