Senior Mechanical Project Manager
Defence Projects - Cambridgeshire & Suffolk
Up to £95,000 + Full Executive Package
A leading UK Building Services division within a £1.5bn turnover construction group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to join its growing Defence portfolio.
This is a true 360 leadership role - spanning pre-construction, PCSA management, tendering and full project delivery. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering technically complex MEP schemes within secure environments.
The Role
As Senior Mechanical Project Manager, you will:
Lead the mechanical package from early engagement through to commissioning
Manage pre-construction and PCSA periods, including programme development and procurement strategy
Play a key role in bidding and tendering upcoming defence and commercial schemes
Drive delivery across safety, quality, programme and commercial performance
Work in close partnership with the Build Project Director as part of a unified leadership team
Mentor PMs, Construction Managers and site teams
Ensure collaborative engagement across the JV structure
This is not a traditional subcontractor-led role - you will be part of the core project leadership team, influencing decisions from day one.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has strong mechanical bias with a solid understanding of electrical interfaces
Has delivered large-scale commercial or defence MEP projects
Is confident managing schemes from tender stage through to completion
Understands the demands of secure/defence environments (experience advantageous)
Demonstrates career stability and long-term ambition
Thrives in collaborative, integrated delivery models
Wants a genuine pathway toward Project Director level
This business actively invests in succession planning and is seeking long-term leaders, not short-term hires.
Why Join?
This division operates differently.
Part of a £1.5bn cash-strong UK group
Focus on securing the right work with the right margin rather than chasing turnover
Strong, long-term client relationships across commercial and public sectors
Structured quarterly development reviews
Leadership mentoring and internal/external training programmes
Clear pathway to Project Director and beyond
Flexible working is supported during pre-construction and PCSA phases, with a project-first approach during live delivery and commissioning.
