Ready to impact a better future? This is your chance to build a hands‑on career that really matters. As a Domestic Gas Apprentice, you’ll learn directly from qualified gas engineers while supporting safe, reliable heating and gas services in people’s homes. Our work touches life every day — and yours will too.
You’ll join a team that cares about doing the right thing, takes pride in its work, and invests in headroom for people to grow. From day one, you’ll earn while you learn, developing the skills and confidence needed to become a fully qualified Gas Engineer.
What You’ll Do As a Domestic Gas Apprentice
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, supporting the installation, servicing and maintenance of domestic gas appliances and heating systems. Every day brings practical learning, problem‑solving, and the opportunity to make a positive impact on communities.
Your Role Will Include
* Assisting qualified gas engineers with servicing, repairs and installations
* Learning and applying gas regulations, manufacturer instructions and safe working practices
* Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas safely
* Supporting accurate documentation and electronic records, including reports and certification drafts
* Working collaboratively with housing and maintenance teams to deliver high‑quality services
* Participating fully in college learning, training courses and assessments as part of the apprenticeship programme
* Complete and maintain work records including appliance and customer data in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
* Communicate verbally with customers, including the provision of guidance on energy and efficiency measures specific to the appliance or system being worked on
* You’ll also gain experience in materials management, waste disposal, health and safety compliance, and effective scheduling — all essential foundations for a future in gas engineering
This role requires BPSS clearance, which involves identity verification, employment history, and criminal record checks to meet government security standards. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be required to ensure we can offer appropriate support for your wellbeing and performance.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Has
* A full UK driving licence
* Maths and English GCSE grade A‑C/9‑4 or equivalent
* A willingness to attend college and complete all elements of the gas apprenticeship
* Strong communication skills and a positive approach to teamwork
* A commitment to learning, self‑development and continuous improvement
* Some basic knowledge of plumbing or heating systems would be helpful, but not essential — curiosity, reliability and a strong work ethic matter most
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation and encourage applications from all backgrounds. All applicants will receive reasonable adjustments throughout the interview process and beyond, and we are proud Disability Confident leaders.
