About The Role
CGI’s Space, Defence, and Intelligence business unit specializes in delivering innovative and mission‑critical technical solutions for government agencies facing complex challenges. The team builds, operates, and maintains bespoke systems that are vital for national security and safety. We are currently seeking experienced DevOps Engineers to join our dynamic, cross‑functional team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to define, guide, and ensure the successful delivery of integrated solutions. Qualifications
* Strong foundation in DevOps practices with specific expertise in Kubernetes, Argo, and Rancher.
* Proficiency in Linux system administration, RPM/Yum package management, and experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Puppet or similar platforms.
* Developer experience in programming languages including Java, Go, Python, and Bash scripting is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with version control systems like Git or SVN is also required.
* Due to the sensitive nature of the work, candidates must either already hold or be eligible to obtain a high‑level UK Security Clearance. Clearance criteria: applicants must be sole British nationals, have resided in the UK for the past ten years, and not have spent more than 28 consecutive days outside the UK within the last five years. Candidates without current clearance are encouraged to apply and will be considered for other opportunities within CGI.
Responsibilities
As a DevOps Engineer at CGI, your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable platforms that support critical government systems. You will work across diverse technology landscapes, collaborating with developers, testers, and platform specialists to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Your role involves recreating tests, validating configurations, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, and automating key elements of the software development lifecycle to improve efficiency and reliability. You will ensure the quality assurance of applications and their deployment in Infrastructure‑as‑Code environments such as Puppet‑managed infrastructure and Kubernetes platforms.
Participation in Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum events, will be essential for planning, estimating, and prioritizing work within a high‑performing team. Additionally, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, recommend best practices, and support the implementation of security protocols to safeguard sensitive systems.
