Vehicle Mechanical Design Engineer - Warwick (Hybrid) - £40,000-£55,000 DOE
VIQU is working with a well-established engineering company in the specialist vehicle sector to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex mechanical systems for heavy and specialist vehicles, taking ownership of designs from concept through to production within a supportive, hybrid-working environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical components and chassis systems from concept through to detailed design
* Produce 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and BOMs in line with BS8888 standards
* Support engineering problem-solving, validation, and verification activities
* Communicate design intent to manufacturing, suppliers, and internal teams
* Support product introduction and provide engineering support during production
* Investigate field and service issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions
* Contribute to engineering change management and continuous improvement activities
* Work collaboratively within a cross-functional engineering team
Key Requirements
* HNC/HND or Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering (essential); BEng/MEng (desirable)
* Previous mechanical design experience within yellow goods, heavy goods, plant, machinery, or similar engineered products
* Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, stress, fatigue, and material selection
* Experience using 3D CAD (Solid Edge preferred, or equivalent such as SolidWorks or Creo)
* Ability to produce accurate drawings and BOMs with good understanding of DFM/DFA
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding and pressed components
* Experience working within engineering change management processes
* Detail-oriented, practical, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
