Commercial Finance Director (FP&A – Media)
The Opportunity
Market-leading media group to identify a Commercial Finance Director with a deep FP&A background and strong cost control capabilities. This is a pivotal, board-facing role where precision, resilience, and commercial clarity are paramount.
You’ll inherit a stable, motivated team and play a critical role in shaping financial performance, building stakeholder confidence, and enabling the business to scale internationally.
Key Duties:
* Lead and own all commercial finance and FP&A activities across the business
* Manage and develop an existing team
* Deliver accurate, board-level financial reporting and commercial insight
* Drive rigorous cost management and performance measurement across P&L
* Provide proactive financial challenge and strategic input to senior stakeholders
* Ensure full transparency and clarity across forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning
* Partner closely with operational leaders to support international growth and commercial decision-making
* Embed strong controls, governance, and reporting excellence
* 15–20+ years of progressive finance experience with a core foundation in FP&A and commercial finance
* Must have Transformations experience. Proven track record in leading international business transformations within the media sector
* Demonstratable ability to drive commercial change, improve margin and enable strategic pivots.
* Gravitas to influence C-suite, strong leadership skills a must.
* Demonstrated leadership of high-performing finance teams (minimum 8–10)
* Experience in a media, marketing, or agency environment is essential
* International experience is beneficial but not mandatory
* First-rate board reporting, stakeholder management, and financial modelling skills
* Gravitas to operate in a fast-paced, challenging, high-standards board environment
* Strong cost management expertise and ability to lead financial turnaround or optimisation initiatives
* Emotionally intelligent leader who can build morale, confidence, and trust in a recently restructured team
* Resilient under pressure, can push back, challenge assumptions, and remain composed under board scrutiny
* Stable career track (contractors must have a clear reason and compelling commercial track record)
