ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Edinburgh, are currently looking to recruit a Finance Assistant for an initial 6 month contract on a rate of £15.50/hour to £16.73/hour PAYE (depending on experience). This role requires onsite office visits every 6 weeks.

Our client is looking for a Finance Operational Assistant to join the Governance & Operational Team within the Finance Directorate which has a focus on:
The management and control of all transactional processing (accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury and payroll – including Doctors and Dentists in Training salaries and expensesProduction of the returns, annual accounts and other statutory returnsManaging the design, implementation and supervision of financial controls to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and integrity of systems and processesThis role is responsible for aspects of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expenses and Treasury. Working within the Governance & Operational Finance team you will have the opportunity to work closely with two other colleagues to share tasks on a rotational basis to ensure efficient processing of supplier and customer invoices and the processing of customer receipts and expenses.
Responsibilities:
Process customer and supplier invoicesMatch invoices to purchase ordersAssist with invoice queriesProcessing expensesReconcile supplier statementsSet up new customers and suppliersProvide assistance and advice to department budget holdersProvide support during internal and external audit reviewsEssential Experience:
Proven administrative experience within a multi-disciplinary business operations (ideally finance) environmentPrevious knowledge and/or experience in the transactional processing of supplier and/or customer invoicesEvidence of time management skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision; to plan and prioritise own workloads; and to meet deadlinesExperience of working both independently and as part of a team, whilst balancing a range of competing prioritiesAbility to work with minimal supervision; to plan and prioritise own workloads; and to meet deadlinesFlexible approach to learning and problem solvingCommitment to personal and professional developmentBasic knowledge and understanding of core accounting principlesUnderstanding of GDPR and data protection, plus appreciation of the need for discretion and confidentiality in the workplaceHighly developed customer service skills, with a helpful, flexible attitude * Understanding of the need for accuracy and attention to detailProven expertise in using Microsoft 365, in particular Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePointFast and accurate keyboard skillsAbility to meet the travel requirements of the post
