Job role overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering enhanced value across a variety of components and processes spanning all model platforms. Key techniques will include design optimisation, resourcing, and supplier negotiations.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the business to identify and implement Value Engineering initiatives within Powertrain, Chassis, and Electrical components. Additionally, the position involves engagement with—and potentially travel to—new international suppliers, where strong technical judgement and effective collaborative problem-solving will be essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the delivery of engineering solutions to support the continuous improvement in the value of current production and development motorcycles, consulting with and seeking support from Specialists and Chief Engineers as required.
* Responsible for delivering these projects to the business defined time, cost, quality, and specification requirements, consistent with the high regard that is placed on the customer ownership experience.
* To regularly work as part of a cross functional team to identify and define opportunities, followed up with timely and robust engineering solutions.
* Engage technically with international suppliers as required to develop and agree component specifications.
* The role is a highly technical role, focussed on detail and delivery.
* Communicate and collaborate across the entire supply/value chain to maximise team working and effectiveness.
* Contribute to the creation and maintenance of detailed project plans to ensure that current and future deliverables are met to promise.
* Deliver against Key Performance Indicators for the role that will be driven by Cost, Time, Quality and Specification targets.
* Follow and challenge established processes, procedures and working practices to minimise risk to projects and products, but also challenge these to maximise the effectiveness of the Department.
* Think ahead in terms of risk and mitigation. Based on this, escalate concerns, risks, and issues up through the reporting chain.
* Offer support and advice to less experienced members of the team, driving in best practise.
Qualifications:
* Maths and English GCSE grade C or above.
* MEng or BEng in an Engineering related subject
Experience:
Essential
* Proficient in Microsoft Packages including Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Fluent in written and spoken English.
* Has a highly technical approach, with emphasis on attention to detail.
* Strong technical judgement with the ability to collaborate on technical matters to get value added from more experienced staff. Capable of working independently as required.
* Ability to demonstrate urgency and willingness to deliver to promise.
* Thinks ahead, considering risk and mitigations for their designs, with a focus on robust and proven solutions.
Desirable
* Previous experience of working within an automotive /manufacturing environment.
* Previous experience working in a value engineering – related role.
