AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven decommissioning technician to join the Network & Cable Decommissioning team (NCD). The NCD Tech will work closely with project managers, network engineers, and operations teams to recover cabling infrastructure and sanitize legacy abandoned cable.
The Network and Cable Decommissioning team’s primary focus is to reclaim capacity for our customers by safely removing decommissioned legacy network equipment and old cabling infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Physical Decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
* Manage assigned work and priorities through ticketing system and/or workflows.
* Provide status updates to Stakeholder via ticketing system.
* Effectively co-ordinate and deliver multiple tasks congruently.
* Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain Data Center cleanliness.
* Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices.
* Collaborate with various Stakeholders to remove obstacles.
* Read and comprehend datacenter build documentation, and site specific layout material.
* Travel within geographical work area is required, up to 30% travel outside traditional work area may be required depending on your primary region.
Requirements
5+ years of in-depth knowledge of copper and fiber optics. 4+ years of in-depth knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment. 4+ years’ experience troubleshooting cabling infrastructure connectivity issues.
