Job Description
Cost Engineers support major projects and organisations in the delivery of accurate and timely project information relating to performance against project baselines. The cost engineer will drive cost performance reporting for the project including all Earned Value Management metrics associated with key project commitments and expenditures.
Responsibilities
* Development of project cost control data structures to accurately track and control actual costs
* Establishing and setting the project control budget aligned with agreed baselines
* Tracking actual costs, both internal and external expenditure against cost control structures
* Tracking and controlling project accruals and commitments against budget constraints
* Building project forecast to include estimate to complete (ETC) and developing the estimate at completion (EAC)
* Accurate and timely reporting of all cost‑related project information
* Working with the planning function to accurately apply Earned Value Management rules
* Tracking project contingency and exposure associated with risk events and remaining risks
* Tracking project change control to ensure alignment with agreed baselines and control data structures
* Tracking key project trends and actioning as appropriate
Qualifications
Delivered cost engineering across a range of major projects, preferably across multiple sectors, and worked across the full project lifecycle including for pre‑investment decision, design development, execution, and commissioning phases.
Experience in working to cost engineering procedures and processes, and the ability to define project cost procedures and standards to which the project or programme will adhere.
Highly conversant with cost management systems such as Ecosys, including interfaces with corporate ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle, and an appreciation of business rules and how project funding and performance aligns with business financial account requirements.
