An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Neurological Occupational Therapist to join the City and Hackney Adult Community Rehabilitation Team. This post will give you the opportunity to develop your core and specialist skills and knowledge base in the field of community neurological rehabilitation.
The Adult Community Rehab Team is a forward-thinking service that provides inter-disciplinary rehabilitation to adults living in the clinically, economically and culturally diverse borough of Hackney and the City of London. The team is split into two specialist branches (neurological conditions and physical conditions) and consists of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Clinical & Neuropsychology, Dietitians and Rehabilitation Assistants. The team is supported by a Consultant Allied Health Professional, Consultant Neuropsychologist and a Consultant Neurologist.

This post is located in the community, office base in Hoxton but you will work across various sites as dictated by the needs of the service and clients.
Main duties of the job
The neurological conditions team provides assessment and intervention for clients with both progressive (Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Neuro Oncology) and non-progressive (ABI and SCI) neurological diagnoses. Occupational Therapy input is client centric and goal directed and can focus on:
* Increasing independence or participation in functional tasks, community access and leisure activities
* Vocational rehabilitation
* Postural management
* Splinting and upper limb rehabilitation
As the Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist you would have the opportunity to:
* Carry a diverse caseload
* Supervise: Band 5 Occupational Therapist, OT apprentice and students
* Participate in consultant lead outpatient clinics
* Lead or participate in Quality Improvement projects
* Deputise to the Band 7, developing management skills in waiting list management and recruitment

Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registration
* Member of BAOT
* Member of relevant Special Interest Group
Skills and Abilities
* Senior level clinical skills with complex physical conditions
* Able to manage a clinical caseload
* Effective communication skills
* Awareness of own competency level
* Understanding of MDT working
* Fieldwork accreditation
* Fabrication of thermoplastic upper limb orthosis
Experience
* Broad general experience at basic level
* Clinical supervision experience
* Experience using outcome measures
* Community experience
* Experience working in a diverse socio economic/multicultural area
Knowledge
* Knowledge of current professional issues relevant to the client group

Salary
£47,951 to £56,863 a year pro rata p.a. incl.
