Class 1 Casual Driver

Shift: Zero hour contract, casual

About the Role
As a Class 1 Casual Driver, you will:
* Deliver goods to retail stores on a dedicated contract using curtain side, tail lift, and box trailers, while returning store waste to the depot.
* Complete an average of 1 to 3 delivery drops per shift in line with schedule and route planning.
* Ensure all loads are safely and securely restrained using straps, nets, and appropriate securing equipment to prevent movement or damage during transit.
* Safely operate electric-assisted pallet trucks and carry out manual handling for cage-based deliveries when required, ensuring efficient and safe unloading at customer sites.
* Manage trailer movements, including the collection and return of trailers for servicing at the end of each shift.
* Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using your company phone to maintain top-notch vehicle safety and reliability.
* Maintain regular communication with the transport office to provide updates on delivery progress and respond to any changes or issues in real time.
* Represent the company professionally at every delivery point, ensuring excellent customer service and building strong relationships with store teams.
* Participate in ongoing training and development, including refresher courses and updates on industry regulations, to keep your skills sharp and compliant.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
* Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
* A minimum of 6 months' HGV driving experience.
* Previous experience delivering to retail or commercial sites (preferred but not essential).
* A strong focus on customer service, with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously.
* The ability to work to tight schedules while maintaining high safety standards.
* A positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to work independently when required.
* Good geographical knowledge and route planning awareness.
