Overview
You will join an enthusiastic and friendly department of Ophthalmology which is an integral part of the Division of Surgery at the QEH.
You will ensure the continued delivery of high-quality care to patients within the trust and to contribute to the further development of the Ophthalmology service.
Responsibilities
* Average of 8 clinical sessions per week, including laser lists, IVT lists, medical retina and glaucoma clinics.
* Provide surgical assistance on Vitreoretinal theatre cases.
* Accommodate extra managerial responsibilities within the timetable.
* Assist Consultant teams to deliver effective and comprehensive Ophthalmic care to patients.
* Two SPA / administration sessions per week and attend regular regional ophthalmic teaching sessions.
* Participate in regular teaching and audit sessions and supervise trainees in clinics and theatre when necessary.
* Perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances essential for continuity of patient care.
Digital Transformation
We are building a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2031/32 and are carrying out one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work ever undertaken.
The new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined‑up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.
