Sue Ross Recruitment are working on behalf of our client, a highly respected private healthcare clinic, to recruit a Medical Secretary for a full-time, permanent position based in Sheffield.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a professional and supportive medical team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, ensuring the smooth running of the Secretaries’ Office and the highest level of patient care.
Key Responsibilities for the Medical Secretary role:
• Manage the daily practice and diary of a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.
• Prepare and organise clinic and theatre bags, including the sorting of return bags.
• Communicate professionally with patients, consultants, and hospital staff.
• Type clinic and theatre letters accurately and promptly, maintaining date order.
• Arrange theatre dates for patients listed by the surgeon.
• Liaise with hospital departments to request investigations and retrieve results.
• Carry out any ad hoc administrative duties as requested by the Practice Manager or Assistant Practice Manager.
Candidate Requirements for the Medical Secretary role:
• Excellent communication skills with a polite and professional manner.
• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
• Strong attention to detail and a high standard of spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
• Team player with a proactive and supportive attitude.
• Previous secretarial or administrative experience is essential; medical experience is advantageous.
