Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, North Devon
This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant multidisciplinary team in Barnstaple, Devon. The role is full‑time but part‑time or flexible arrangements are welcome. The successful candidate will develop and lead clinical practice within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.
Job Summary
Main duties:
* Lead and deliver clinical services across multiple pathways for children and young people.
* Provide specialist clinical care and medical leadership in areas such as Eating Disorders, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Developmental Trauma, etc.
* Work collaboratively with other consultants, multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
* Use routine outcome measures, evidence‑based interventions and promote prevention and early intervention.
Responsibilities
* Deliver one‑to‑one and group clinical interventions.
* Supervise and train staff at all levels.
* Engage with families and support their journey to recovery.
* Develop service initiatives and drive quality improvement.
* Participate in research and teaching activities.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council.
* CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or achievement within 3 months of appointment.
* Approved Clinician status (or obtainable within 3 months).
* Registered within the Specialist Register or on the CCT within 6 months of interview.
* Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
Essential experience and skills
* Prior experience working in a CAMHS team.
* Clinical practice in community settings.
* Experience in audit and clinical governance.
* Leadership and influence across multidisciplinary teams.
* Commitment to continuous professional development.
Desirable experience and skills
* Specialist or sub‑specialist experience (e.g. eating disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders).
* Research experience – interpretation, application and delivery of evidence.
* PhD, MSc or other advanced qualification in medical education, research or management.
* Teaching experience for undergraduates or postgraduates.
* Clinical supervision of trainees.
Salary and Working Pattern
£109,725 to £145,478 per year. Permanent contract. Full‑time, part‑time, or flexible working arrangements are available.
