Business Partnerships Manager (Wolverhampton North)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Full time, permanent
Work Style: Flexible (remote or any suitable City of Wolverhampton Council location, including IGNITE at i10)
Salary: £52,413 – £56,730 (Grade 8)
Position Overview
Based within the Business Partnerships and Investment team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering the Council’s ambitions for business growth, inward investment and partnership working, supporting the Head of Business Partnerships and Investment to implement key priorities in the Good Growth Strategy.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Council’s relationship management, business support and investment activity across North Wolverhampton.
* Develop deep knowledge of the area’s assets, priority sectors and growth opportunities.
* Engage proactively with key anchor businesses, SMEs, site owners, developers, educational and research partners, and regional agencies to maximise investment, job creation, innovation and supply‑chain opportunities.
* Lead on marketing, events and promotional activity under the Invest City of Wolverhampton brand.
* Contribute to funding bids and manage programmes such as IGNITE.
* Line‑manage a Business Partnerships Support Officer.
* Represent the Council at external meetings, events and forums, maintaining a political and multi‑agency environment.
Qualifications
* Relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience.
* Significant experience working across public, private and third‑sector partnerships to support business growth, investment and enterprise.
* Strong track record in strategic relationship management, business support, triage and diagnostics.
* Experience in marketing and events delivery.
* Excellent communication, influencing and organisational skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a political and multi‑agency environment, manage staff effectively, and use data, CRM systems and economic intelligence to inform delivery and performance monitoring.
* Experience working in local government or economic development and knowledge of Wolverhampton’s economic priorities, inward investment, regeneration and the commercial property market is advantageous.
