Overview

This role is instrumental in raising standards of achievement for pupils with varied and complex needs across all curriculum areas. Working closely with the SENDCo, you will take operational leadership of SEND provision within the education team. You will collaborate with teaching staff, senior leaders, and the Clinical Lead to provide expert support and advice—ensuring students' individual needs are met and barriers to learning are overcome. You will also be responsible for leading EHCP annual reviews, supporting individual students and small groups, and contributing to the delivery of targeted provision.


Responsibilities

* Act as operational lead for SEND provision within the education team
* Support inclusion across the school in collaboration with the SENDCo and other key staff
* Lead and manage EHCP annual reviews
* Deliver and support targeted interventions for students
* Provide specialist support and guidance to staff to meet individual pupil needs
* Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support learners


Qualifications and qualities

* A qualified teacher with a passion for SEND education
* Someone ready to take the next step in their career with leadership responsibilities
* A professional who thrives in a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive school environment
* A motivated individual committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
* Degree or equivalent
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience delivering or supporting provision such as Lego Therapy, Precision Teaching, or Emotional Literacy
* Ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, families, and external professionals

Acorn Park is a school for 160 pupils, all with a primary diagnosis of Autism. We run two curriculum pathways – Formal and Semi-formal. Our Complex needs pupils are on the Semi-Formal Pathway, which is highly personalised from their EHCP. We have a mixture of Day and Residential pupils with 8 co-located pupil homes on our 30 acre site in rural Norfolk. On site we also have a large Forest School and Animal Care Farm, playground facilities, a sports hall and sensory rooms. For over 16 years Options Autism has provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults.
