Director, Global Congress Strategy – Respiratory
Location: London/Remote (hybrid working)
Duration: 4-5 months initial (temporary role)
Rate: £500-650 per day (based on experience, INSIDE IR35)
SRG is supporting a leading global pharmaceutical organisation in the search for a Director, Global Congress Strategy – Respiratory to assist the business on a temporary contract. This is a highly strategic role within Global Scientific Communications, responsible for shaping and delivering congress strategy across a key therapeutic area. The role plays a critical part in developing scientific narratives, driving annual congress planning, and ensuring alignment across medical and commercial stakeholders on a global scale. This is a hybrid role – with some on-site presence in London, and some travel (including international) will be involved.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the annual global congress planning process for the Respiratory therapeutic area, aligned to medical and commercial strategy
* Develop and drive TA‑level congress strategy, including sponsorship decisions and overarching scientific narratives
* Ensure consistent, high‑quality congress execution across assets, partnering closely with Medical, Commercial, and regional teams
* Provide strategic direction on scientific content to support impactful and compliant congress delivery
* Manage relationships with external vendors, societies, and key internal stakeholders to deliver on congress objectives
* Define, evaluate, and leverage congress KPIs and insights to continuously refine strategy and investment
Key Skills & Experience Required
* Advanced degree in science, medicine, pharmacy, or a related discipline
* Significant experience (7+ years) in global scientific communications and/or pharma congress strategy and execution
* Strong understanding of pharmaceutical congress environments, industry codes, and compliance requirements
* Proven ability to develop and implement strategic scientific narratives at TA or asset level
* Experience collaborating effectively with global Medical and Commercial teams and external partners
* Excellent stakeholder management, analytical, and project management skills across complex, multi‑project environments
