What is the Opportunity?
As part of the Group Risk Management team (GRM), the Director, Business Continuity Risk Management (BCRM), APAC, UK & EU, will be responsible for the Business Continuity Risk Management Program and achieving best-in-class resiliency practices, specific to the regions.
You will be key in providing advice, oversight and challenge to business partners to ensure effective adoption of Program requirements across APAC, EU and the UK operations for RBC.
You will work in close partnership with the other members of the BCRM leadership team to provide full 2 line of defense coverage across APAC, UK and EU.
You will also ensure effective APA, UK and EU alignment to the RBC Enterprise BCRM Policy & Standard.
Your role is integral to ensuring strong BCRM practices are in place, aligned to regulations for Business Continuity within the region.
What will you do?
* Contribute to and execute on the vision, strategy and operating model for business continuity risk management, specifically for APAC, UK and EU.
* Foster strong stakeholder relationships to enable active and collaborative working relationships.
* Develop and direct the implementation of the business continuity risk management monitoring, oversight and challenge programs and practices to ensure accurate view of Operational Risk Profile for RBC's APAC, UK and EU operations.
* Develop and manage the monitoring and oversight and challenge program, covering all key BCRM program requirements for effective adherence to BCM policies and standards and appropriate controls are in place for APAC, UK and EU.
* Monitor and oversee the remediation of any issues for adequate risk mitigation.
* Lead thematic reviews and 2 line of defense objective assessments to assess the adherence to Policy & Standard.
* Interface with APAC, UK and EU regulators on the topic of BCRM and other types of Operational Risk examinations, as a business continuity subject matter expert.
* Support implementation of ORM initiatives (e.g.: Internal Control Management Policy) and monitor for adherence to requirements, escalating concerns where required
* Identify trends and direct research into areas of perceived elevated or emerging operational risk
* Identify BCRM regulatory requirements for APAC, UK and EU, collaborating with the enterprise BCRM Regulatory Compliance team, which will result in the updated requirements to the Enterprise BCRM Policy & Standard.
* Provide BCRM risk mitigation strategies and advise senior management and executives in understanding and managing business continuity risk.
* Champion behaviours that embed a strong risk management culture across 1st & 2nd LOD, including strong awareness of BCRM practices.
* Provide oversight on the design and effectiveness of the internal control environment.
* Actively support 1LOD in establishing operational risk appetite that aligns with stated strategic objectives.
* Bring 1st Line of Defense insights from external sources such as ORX, Industry Events, Industry Best practices.
* Engage in external committees, forums and associations specialising in BCRM.
* Report APAC, UK and EU business continuity risk-related reporting and insights, and partner with the business to enhance reporting where required, to support executive management to build a perspective on operational risks and emerging trends.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
* Extensive experience in BCRM (including incident and crisis management) and financial services industry or highly regulated industry.
* Established acumen to Governance Risk Compliance (GRC) through 1 and 2 lines of defence roles.
* Strong understanding of business continuity governance framework and practices.
* Advanced qualitative, analytical and critical thinking skills.
* Excellence communications skills and strong stakeholder engagement.
* Strong facilitation and presentation skills, ability to communicate effectively with Senior and Executive Management and Operating/Oversight Committees.
* Good knowledge of APAC, UK and EU regulatory requirements and best practices regarding Business Continuity practices globally.
