Wood Digital Consulting (DC) is recruiting for a Lead Instrument Designer to support one of our UK projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and assisting in the execution of instrumentation scope on projects. Work shall be carried out in accordance with relevant standards and procedures under a quality management system within manhour and cost budgets and within project schedules.
This is a hybrid role that can be based anywhere in the UK, mobility and travel to customer sites and face to face meetings with colleagues will be expected as required.
Applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated designer providing leadership to the Instrument design team. Able to work unsupervised and as part of a discipline and overall project team and have previous experience in leading and executing control and instrumentation project work in the oil and gas industry.
1. Provide leadership for Instrument designers and draftspersons.
2. Communicate and coordinate the plan to the Instrument design team to ensure deliverables are completed on time and on budget
3. Support the Project Engineering Team in delivery and management of all aspects of C&I design deliverables.
4. Input to schedule development, defining execution risks in general, and critical path specific risks
5. Provide significant technical skills and experience in the approach, preparation, checking and fulfilment of calculations, drawings, diagrams and other deliverables and activities
6. Produce Instrument datasheets, BOMs, Loop Drawings, Instrumentation Installation Detail Drawings and other related drawings
7. Participate in site visits, surveys and queries, including assessment of safety, investigations and documentation when at site
8. Have an understanding of the extent, methods and means of producing and need for the Instrument Design deliverables and main activities
9. Represent WOOD in a professional, conscientious and ethical manner with clients, suppliers, vendors, contractors and at other offices/sites
10. Strong computer skills include MS Office suite and particularly the use of database and spreadsheet applications
11. Participate in our mentorship program to help upcoming Instrument designers
12. Monitor Quality in accordance with Quality plan
13. Previous experience in Leadership of Control and Instrumentation designs
14. Proficient use of AutoCAD packages
15. Hands on experience with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) will be an added advantage
