When you choose to join us, you're choosing more than just a job. You're choosing to make a difference.
About the role
You will work with the Exeter STaR (System Treatment and Recovery) team on a project delivering intensive and holistic support to individuals experiencing addiction and homelessness. The STaR project offers an exciting opportunity to provide the kind of intensive support that clients with complex problems deserve.
As a member of the STaR team, you will have the time and space to establish strong therapeutic relationships with your clients. You will work closely with the project’s GP and Clinical Psychologist to support clients in addressing physical and mental health challenges that often hinder recovery. You will have access to personal budgets to help clients rediscover enjoyment in their lives and work with housing and homelessness experts to help clients find and maintain housing. By working diligently as part of an integrated multi-agency team, you will apply intensive, co-created recovery solutions to enable meaningful and sustainable health and well-being improvements.
The existing STaR team members are inspiring and motivating, supporting positive change for some of the most vulnerable people in Exeter. If you are committed to addressing social exclusion and want to work on a project that provides the time, space, expertise, and resources to do things differently, we encourage you to apply.
You will provide substance misuse-specific knowledge and interventions, working flexibly to deliver the right treatment in the right place at the right time for people with complex lives. You will work within a multi-skilled team based at Exeter’s multi-agency hub, CoLab, ensuring clients can access support to address multiple needs. You do not need to be an expert in all areas but will collaborate with various partner agencies to meet diverse client needs.
We acknowledge the complexity of clients’ problems while highlighting their strengths and helping them reconnect with friends and family. STaR adopts a Strength-Based Approach focusing on individuals and community assets. You will work with clients, families, the team, and wider partners to build a support network. You will advocate for clients to access essential services and ensure equitable entry through appropriate channels.
The successful candidate will care deeply about social justice, be resourceful, articulate on behalf of service users, and resilient to challenges. You will join an exciting project offering immediate opportunities for recovery and health improvements. You will receive high-quality management support, participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings, and have access to reflective practice, supervision, and training. You will also contribute to project learning and evaluation activities.
