Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Henley-on-Thames (RG) area to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Class Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to join a nurturing environment and make a meaningful impact during the early stages of pupils’ education.
This role would suit an engaging and creative teacher with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, who is committed to fostering a love of learning and supporting pupils’ academic and social development.
The Role
As a KS1 Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils through a key stage in their learning journey, helping to build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social development.
Key Responsibilities
* Planning and delivering engaging, creative, and differentiated lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
* Supporting pupils’ progress in phonics, early reading, writing, and maths
* Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
* Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data-driven teaching and targeted interventions
* Supporting pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEN
* Promoting confidence, independence, and social skills
* Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
* Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
* Experience within Early Years or Key Stage 1
* Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics frameworks (e.g., Little Wandle)
* Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
* A creative, nurturing, and engaging teaching style
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work full-time in the Henley (RG) area from September
Desirable
* Experience teaching Year 1 or Year 2
* Expertise in phonics delivery and early reading development
* Experience preparing pupils for Year 2 assessments
* Experience supporting children with SEN
* Knowledge of assessment and progress tracking
