This is a 10 PA post for a Consultant Breast Surgeon to work in the Surgical Care Group at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust. The post is currently based at King George Hospital (no on‑call requirements) and the successful applicant will support the delivery of breast surgery services.
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Breast Surgeon. This is an opportunity to join a busy, dynamic multidisciplinary team to help us improve the service that we provide to our population.
The aim of the Surgical Care Group is to become a world leader in the field of surgical management through innovation, evidence based safe and effective patient care and the successful applicant must therefore have the pre‑requisite procedural and leadership skills as well as teamwork, drive and ambition to succeed in achieving these goals.
Responsibilities
* Provision of high‑quality surgical/oncological management to patients with breast cancer and benign breast disease
* Provision of 2WW Breast Clinics to achieve the constitutional cancer targets
* Continue to be responsible for the clinical care of patients in the applicant’s charge and for the proper functioning of the department
* Deliver a high‑quality responsive surgical service to the patients who use it
* Be responsible for providing appropriate inpatient cover to patients
* Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients and the running of a clinical department
* Maintain an up‑to‑date knowledge of current surgical practice
* Maintain professional development with all available training opportunities and ensure compliance with mandatory training
* Work with other Consultant colleagues as a team
Qualifications
* FRCS
* Wide experience in elective and emergency general surgery in the NHS
