Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our team at Ruskington. Reporting to the Site Director, you will oversee the engineering, site maintenance teams, and external contractors. Your key responsibilities will include managing the maintenance of our site, services, and facilities, ensuring that costs are effectively controlled, and budget targets are met.
Key tasks & responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, maintain and regularly review a strategic development programme of the site infrastructure, process and production capability, developing capital investment plans as required.
2. Deliver capital investment improvements through the projects team to agreed timescales.
3. Effectively manage all site and legislative requirements for equipment, pressure systems, lifting equipment, etc.
4. Provide detailed reports on asset performance and condition and maintain accurate maintenance records.
5. Ensure financial controls and departmental systems and processes are followed and meet all internal/external audit requirements.
6. Plan activities and resources to ensure that work is completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
7. Build effective contingency plans through resource planning.
8. Communicate effectively and provide written and verbal reports to peers and the senior team.
9. Manage the departmental budget process to ensure resource availability and control.
10. Liaise with contractors to assess the quality and performance of their work, ensuring standards are maintained.
11. Administer and manage the permit to work system.
12. Evaluate new equipment for critical and base stock requirements.
13. Develop and implement approaches for continuous improvement, encouraging lean techniques and processes.
14. Maintain a strategic succession plan for the department.
15. Use systems to identify critical spares and make informed stock decisions.
16. Analyze data to identify MTBF and develop maintenance plans to minimize failures.
17. Manage waste streams to meet company and legislative requirements.
18. Understand environmental impacts and work towards reducing or eliminating them.
Requirements:
* Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering-related subject.
* Food Safety Level 3.
* HACCP Level 3.
* Previous engineering management experience within a food manufacturing environment.
* Proven experience managing large teams and diverse technical activities.
* Experience developing and implementing capital expenditure plans.
* Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
* Proven track record in cost control, health and safety, and quality systems management.
* Knowledge of legislative and environmental controls related to plant and machinery safety.
* Experience managing and implementing PPM systems using CMMS.
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to workload peaks.
* Proficiency in analyzing trends from management systems and acting accordingly.
