The role
Job Description
Start Date: September
Contract: Long-term, full-time (potentially until funding ceases or pupil leaves the school)
Pay: £15 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (30-minute unpaid break)
We are currently working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Knutsford area who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Year 4.
This is a long-term opportunity, ideal for someone with experience supporting children with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and a passion for making a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with complex SEND
- Support communication through Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
- Work closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals
- Support the child in a dedicated learning space, often outside the main classroom
- Assist with personal care, including nappy changing
About the Child
- Diagnosed with Autism and has complex additional needs
- Non-verbal, communicates using PECS
- Requires consistent, patient, and nurturing support
- Spends a significant portion of the day in a structured, individual environment
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working with children with Autism and complex SEND
- Understanding or experience of PECS (preferred)
- Comfortable providing personal care (This is a MUST as the child with require changing)
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships
